Tenerife airport SIM card: land-and-buy vs later
Updated 2026-08-22 · Local 4, Centro Comercial San Eugenio, Av. de los Pueblos 20, 38660 Costa Adeje
TFS SIM kiosks vary by hours and brand. Skip queues: Orange 100/250/300GB from €20 (IVA) at A1 Computers, CC San Eugenio. Passport required.
Airport kiosk vs shop vs travel eSIM
A Tenerife airport SIM card usually means a prepaid desk at Tenerife South (TFS) or Tenerife North (TFN) after baggage. It is the fastest path to plastic if you have no data and a long transfer. Downsides: queues after several landings, kiosk-only stock, and less time to compare GB and validity.
A1 Computers is not in the terminal. We sell Orange tourist SIMs and eSIMs from Local 4 in Costa Adeje. Airalo / Holafly-style apps cover data before you land; they are not a Costa Adeje counter and may not give you the same prepaid Orange pack we list on /shop. None of these options is “always best.” Match the tool to landing time, phone type and whether you need a physical card.
If you buy after the airport: Adeje prices
Once you are south (Adeje, Las Américas, Los Cristianos, San Eugenio), you can collect or scan with us. IVA-included Orange packs:
- Tourist 100 — 100GB, 20€, 28 days, EU roaming 18GB
- Tourist 250 — 250GB, 35€, 30 days, EU roaming 32GB (most picked)
- Tourist 300 — 300GB, 45€, 30 days, EU roaming 35GB
We do not claim these beat every airport sticker on every day. We publish one price list and activate under ID law. Details: Orange SIM card Tenerife and tourist SIM Costa Adeje.
eSIM on landing so you skip the kiosk
If the phone supports eSIM, order at /shop before or after the flight. Upload passport, DNI or NIE. When verification finishes, the QR is emailed (target ~2 minutes). Install on airport or hotel Wi‑Fi. That is how many visitors avoid both the TFS queue and a detour on day one.
Online checkout runs on London time: Mon–Sat 10:45–21:00, Sun 10:45–13:30. Late Sunday arrivals may wait until Monday morning for online pay — or visit the shop Sunday 10:45–14:00 / weekdays until 21:30 and sort a physical SIM. Step-by-step: eSIM Tenerife.
Physical SIM after the transfer
Plastic is held at Local 4, CC San Eugenio, Av. de los Pueblos 20, 38660 Costa Adeje for 48 hours. The line holder brings the same original ID used on the order. Triple-cut card, no shipping to the airport. Activation at the counter when the document matches.
From TFS you are already heading toward the south resorts; San Eugenio sits in that belt. Call 922 71 35 82 if the mall map is unclear. Shop hours: Mon–Sat 10:45–21:30, Sunday 10:45–14:00. No appointment. Terms: /terms.
ID at the airport and at Local 4
Whether you buy at a terminal desk or in Adeje, Spanish prepaid activation needs passport, DNI or NIE. Budget time at TFS if the kiosk copies documents in a peak queue. With us, eSIM uses an upload; physical SIM uses an in-person check of the original. The holder on the document must be the line holder — a friend’s passport will not activate your phone.
Refusal or mismatch cancels activation. That is Ley 25/2007 / RD 381/2015 practice, not a tourist trap. Keep the original with you until the line is live. Start an order: /shop.
FAQ
- Should I buy a SIM at Tenerife South airport (TFS)?
- Buy at the airport if you need data before the transfer and accept kiosk queues and prices. If you have hotel Wi‑Fi or can install an eSIM, order from /shop and skip the arrivals hall.
- Does A1 Computers sell SIMs inside the airport?
- No. A1 is at Local 4, CC San Eugenio, Costa Adeje — south of TFS. eSIM QR can be emailed after ID check so you do not need the airport desk.
- Can I install an eSIM before landing?
- If checkout is open (London time) and ID verifies, the QR is emailed. Install on airport Wi‑Fi or in the taxi only if your device allows eSIM download. Physical SIMs are pickup-only at Local 4, not shipped to the gate.
- What ID do airport and shop SIMs need?
- Spanish prepaid rules require passport, DNI or NIE for activation. Bring the original. Airport sellers and A1 both have to identify the holder when registering a prepaid line.
